I have given myself a challenge of goals…

Write 500 words a day. Any story, just write.
Finish the damn website. Add your book page
Post twice weekly on ream and social media
I have been trying to keep up the writing 500 words a day and while it's not perfect, I am not as far behind as I could be (1768/2000) so pretty happy with that! *Last updated September 4.
What about you? Do you do goals per month?
Here is a cute little photo of a typical day at the house. Cuddle time with Moxie, our new puppy, and kiddo being contemplative. Lovely relaxing cuddle evenings!
Here is a sample from my Roses of Disgrace short story aka "My Lady of Thorns":
'“The Center of Disease Control, in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the Environmental Protection Agency, has released an official plea to our nation.”
I glanced up at the screen, taking in the anchorman's sight. He was looking rougher today; bachelorhood at his age, in this time and place, was a horribly poor decision.
“ A plea that I, and the KC12 news team, bring forth today.”
The heavy makeup could not head the vines pressing up just underneath his cheeks and the red blotches, enhanced by the divots and lines of scar tissue, only made the coiling worms underneath conspicuous.
Three generations ago, I’m pretty sure that this would’ve been a spectacle.
Now?
I coughed into my hand and snorted as a red petal, laced with spit and blood, sat in the center of my palm.
Nothing new.
“Now, more than ever, we need each other. We each need a loved one to fight against this epidemic.” The news anchor coughed, a white petal falling from his mouth. Why bother with all the makeup? “Only when each of us reaches our soulmate, can we survive as a species? Therefore, make sure to keeping your senses, especially scent opened. If you are single, clear your nasal passages to lower the chance of missing your soulmate. For those couples who are not married, remember to request marriage certificates digitally, with no identification required. Stay together; studies show that couples who stay together have the highest rate of survival.”
My left eye twitches, my fingers scratching along my left cheek where I can feel the thorns itch to breakthrough. Those ‘successful’ couples are soulmates who found each other already, prick.
“Though the controversial HB609 or the “No Divorce” bill is still being considered within congress, we recommend against separating. Finally, keep track of your potential matches in our database if you have submitted your records. If not-“ Again he coughed, his voice going hoarse.
A chuckle scrambled out of my mouth.
“We will now go to the...” Another hack. “The latest numbers from the-“ More petals, now mixed with dark droplets of red. “The CDC-“ Yup, there he goes.
Coughing, hacking, guffawing. Soon there was a flurry of panic as he slammed his fist on the counter, knocking off his microphone. His eyes were going bloodshot and bulged, crewmembers off camera loudly panicking…
Then the segment shut straight to commercial.
Shame.
Maybe he shouldn’t cheat. Infidelity kinda fucks with the soulmate part.'
