Kiddo had his first trip to the movie theaater and of course we went to my favorite Alamo Drafthouse. Kiddo had a blast and it was so awesome seeing him hold his Stitch while watching the movie.
...which leads to the problem being the movie. The Lilo and Stitch remake. Ooof
When I reflect on the original Lilo and Stitch movie, I remember how special it was to see Nani and Lilo as a loving family and Lilo and Stitch getting into trouble together. However, this dynamic takes a backseat when other characters are introduced. While Nani is indeed a complex character in the original, the revised version makes her a mere "whiny girl boss" with manufactured struggles and a reduced character arc. The addition of the family friend next door only makes things feel messy and contrived.
Overall, the film lacks heart. The real problem, I believe, is that Disney attempted to recreate something new without addressing the original's flaws, resulting in a soulless mess. They merely amplified the original's shortcomings and stripped away some of Nani's most endearing qualities. The result is a film that feels like a shallow rehash of better ideas.
In short, Lilo and Stitch deserves better than this revised version. Let's agree to stop making bad remakes, and perhaps Disney will take the right approach: start fresh with a new perspective instead of trying to recreate something old without heart.

I also generated some lovely images to share. This time of Elysia, my lost dark elf from a cyberpunk fantasy story! I hope you enjoy them!

I wanted to add, on a much more somber note, that I am angered and shocked at a terror attacked that occurred in Boulder Colorado (https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cjdx44kx5zxt). A peaceful charity walk, created as a plea to free Israel hostages, was marred by a horrific attack of which the attacker had shouted inflammatory rhetoric that, in my humble opinion, can be considered antisemitic. I have no tolerance for rhetoric. These attacks are what it leads to. I pray for the health and recovery of these victims and I can only offer my condolences. Please stay safe out there. Please stay safe. That's all. Stay strong, Colorado.
